Plastic Trim That Breaks
Since owning my X5 (which I am very happy with overall), I have been surprised at the number of plastic trim pieces/parts that have broken and or failed. These are not cheap cars in anyones language and I am rather dissappointed that I see sundry plastic bits failing. I'd understand if I lived in a really cold climate where plastic can potentially become brittle, but I don't.
The rest of the X seems fine in regards to the durability and finish to the various types of metal, leather, glass, paint, exterior PVC etc that make up the package. I don't want this to be seen as a 'Lets bash the X5' issue, I simply would like to know from other members what plastic parts have failed on your rides other than what I have mentioned below so that I can maybe pay particular attention to that (those) part(s) as I venture further down the road with 'the best car that I've owned thus far' (and I've owned a few). I have done the obligatory searches and have read in the past about the low quality of plastic trim pieces but an actual list has not been collated. Please don't say 'Search is your friend'. Note: I'm not referring to paint peeling off the door pull handles/levers and or the steering wheel which we all know can also fail. 1/ 'MAX' A/C button. 2/ Gear shift leather shroud base. 3/ 1 x Front kidney grill, inner holding clips. 4/ Drivers seat, above control tabs.

I've had plenty of BMW's and I can say that the older they get all that stuff (and more) becomes so brittle that any time I tried to fool with it stuff would just break off. The plastic just doesn't hold up to the heat/cold stresses.
