Question 2005 X5 Nav Upgrade

I never upgraded the Nav on my 2005 X5 4.4. I read some of the Nav forums but I'm not sure how to work it for my particular year/car/situation. I never messed with upgrading the OS or the actual DVD disc. All parts/software are original to the 2005 year. What is the process for upgrading to the latest navigation? Do I need to upgrade the OS and the disc? If I just upgrade the OS, will my current DVD Nav disc still work? What should I do? Thanks in advance...

What version are you running now? Btw, this really belongs in the navigation forum.

The version I have is SW 4-1/50. If I upgrade the OS will my current dvd still work? After I update the software, which updated disc will work with my setup? Thanks!!

So you're running ver 25. The most significant changes were made in ver 27 so it would be worthwhile for you to update it particularly if you run a nav disk newer than 2006.2. Your old DVD will still work; what version is it btw?
