Similar Experience
I just had a similar experience on my 2001 X5 4.4i. I took my vehicle in to fix my self-leveling suspension which was covered by my extended warranty. I also had the ABS light on and I could hear the sensor on the front brakes.
The local BMW dealer came back with the following additional work that needed to be done: 1.) Speed Sensor damaged on passenger side - $485.00 2.) Pressure Sensor damaged on passenger side - $497.00 3.) Drive Belt relacement - $207.00 4.) Thrust arm bushings - $375.00 5.) Coolant leak - replace hose - $195.00 6.) Burned out rear Break light Module $395.00 7.) Engine Leak - transfer case - $2,150.00 8.) Replace Tires - $1,750.00 with labor. 9.) Replace MID-damaged pixels - $950.00 Here's how it played out: 1.) Speed Sensors - Warranty replaced 2.) Pressure Sensor - Fixed by Indy shop for $245.00 3.) Drive belt - Replaced by Indy shop - $65.00 4.) Thrust Arm Bushings and mountings - Warranty Replaced 5.) Coolant Leak - Replaced hose for $65.00 6.) Burned out Taillight - I tightened the connection - Free. 7.) Engine Leak - not serious yet - watching it. quote of $750 to replace gasket. 8.) Tires - Dunlap ST 5000's for $408.00 from Tirerack.com, including labor. 9.) MID Replacement - $91.00 through BMW NA goodwill replacement. The dealer tried to completely screw me. I know their labor rates are high, but they also flatly lied to me. They didn't inform me of the Goodwill program on the MID until I brought it to their attention (thanks to this forum). They blatantly lied to me about the taillight, telling me the electronics were shot. They misrepresented the seriousness of the drive belt and leaks. They knew there was no way I was buying the Michelin's from them at almost $450 per tire. Get a good indy shop because, as a customer seeking repairs, you are about the only income stream for the dealership because they aren't selling any cars. |

I am VERY interested in this. I have CPO warranty until Jan 2010 but my dealer tells me that this is not covered under warranty as it is classified as a "wear and tear" item. Do you have anything to substantiate that it was replaced for free under warranty that you are okay to share? my dealer wants to charge me over $450 to have my front ones done.
Thanks, |
