Unhappy 5 gal of H20 spilled in cargo area

So yesterday my wife goes to the water store to fill up a jug in her 2001X5 4.4 and realizes that it has tipped over once the stereo stops playing.

I've had the back open with the wind and sun drying everything out for the past day and a half. The display "self leveling suspension inactive" is now gone. But still no sound out of the radio. I checked all the fuses all OK.

I'm wondering if anyone has any tips, other than not to carry large jugs of fluid in the cargo area. A reset possibly?

Thanks for any imput.

The tuner for your radio is back there. You might want to search the forums and locate the tuner. Remove it and try to dry it with a hair dryer. Hope this helps you some....Phil

I had a water leak that caused my stereo to screw up for a while, too. Consider spraying the stereo electrical connections with WD-40. Open everything up including the hatch, and let the area dry out really well. Fixed my problem.

Don't forget the WD-40. It will hasten the process dramatically.

I can't believe I read this....same thing happened to my wife a couple days ago!

I took everything out of the back I could, spare, battery, plastic cover, etc. and dried and dried and dried, blew with air hose and put a fan on it for a day...seems bone dry.

I put it all back together and I have no sound and I don't believe the Nav map is working.

I took the radio out and opened up the case and it was bone dry and I could not see any burn marks on the circuit board.

She had the radio on when the water was spilled...could that have shorted the Amp out? I have checked all the fuses I can find...glove box, the one on the radio, checked all on the passenger side of the trunk and all OK.

Anyone have any ideas? Are there more fuses?

Does anyone have a link to what box in the back does what? None of them are labeled.
