Are you talking about the new feature that chimes constantly until you buckle up? The last time this was discussed, I think the conclusion was that it could not be disabled.

Why dont you try to find a buckle from a wrecked X5 and just snap it in there?

My life was saved by wearing a seatbelt in two major crashes (1987 and 2001). Neither my fault, by the way.

I disabled the chime

.. all you need is wire cutters/strippers and electrical tape.

Pull the buckle cover of from the base of the buckle harness.

Snip the black wire (it's around 12-gauge). Strip the red and black wires inside, twist them together and finish with electrical tape.

(computer will think the seat-belt is already fastened)

.. btw. It's not as simple as always wearing your seatbelt.

There are times when you have to remove your seatbelt. For example, every morning when I park downtown I have to undo my belt to reach the ticket machine/button. If I don't put the seatbelt on immediately, it chimes annoyingly while I park the car.

Also when I'm on my way to the office/airport I often drop my bag on the passenger seat. Believe it or not it often chimed at me for that too! There's either weight sensors in the seat, or a distance sensor in the overhead console (at any rate, the bag's are well under 40lbs). I litteraly had to seatbelt my day bag the other day

How did you figure this out? And could there possibly be a warranty issue wit this, for some reason it seems like of all the things that id want to do to my car, this one is like the most "illegal" one lol just because its a safety issue and all. lol
