Finally have my first X5

Picked up a CPO'd and Maintenance plan 2005 X5 4.4i Saturday at Steven's Creek BMW in Santa Clara. 47k on the clock, details in my sig. Very simple transaction and I was in and out of the dealership in about 1 hour after all the paperwork was signed, blood and urine sample left, etc.

Took CA 25 to CA 198 prior to the boring part of the ride home (5 to 58 to 15). Thing was a beastie and I had a great time w/o killing any locals! Computer stated that the average speed for the 550+ mile trip was over 70 mph and I averaged 20.8 mpg. Love the size of the fuel tank as I only needed to top off w/expensive CA fuel prior to entering the 5 and I was good to go to Vegas.

No pics yet, sorry. Spent yesterday cleaning out all the kiddie litter (not kitty, but kiddie) under the rear seat and in the spare tire wheel well. Yeeeeech... Leather cleaner and interior cleaner got most of the other crud off. Then I reprogrammed the garage door opener for the gate and garage door.

Thanks to this site I've completed the trans reset (the 2-1 thunk was vicious) and plan to get the service bulletin completed when I go to the dealer with my first set of CPO claims! Still figuring out all the navi tricks (including the update), etc.

A very capable vehicle.

Off to go get the Nevada smog test done b/c the NV DMV won't take the CA smog test results... Lovely...

Cheers,

Congratulations...Stevens Creek is great, I've done business with them. I love the Imola(my favorite), I hope BMW puts it on the E70, then i'd be in trouble.

Sorry, no pics as it is crappy outside right now. Passed smog tonight so that was good.

Weird thing though. Key remote wouldn't unlock the door when I tried to leave work today... Manually did it and then tried to lock it with the key remote. No worky. After driving around to warm it up and then get it smogged I came home and the remote worked to lock it but wouldn't unlock it unless I manually used it in the door. WTF?

On edit: found the process for kicking the key in the ass so it works again. So far so good.
