CD Changer And OEM AUX Input - 01' X5 3.0i - No DSP

I've searched and didn't find a definitive answer.

If I upgrade the BMW business CD to an 03' or newer then install the AUX input option, will I still be able to use the CD changer?

Thanks,
Dan

I believe the aux input has nothing to do with the cd changer.

Yep !
Its the reason that I sold my DICE unit.
I can keep the CD Changer in the rear, and use the aux port ( I had installed last week) for my Ipod. Yes, it's true you cant see the names of the songs, but I have heard Dark Side of the Moon so many times I dont need a reminder of what comes when..and if I feel a bit "saucy" I can set the Ipod for random, after about 3 seconds, I know what song it is any way. I did just order from e-bay a charger that goes where the flashlight goes in case I need 12V charger power.. I like to be very "stealth".. The less folks see, the less reason there is for them to BMW (Break My Window).

One mans opinion

Great, yeah I have the CD changer running another CD emulator device and also had a DICE Silverline and was very disappointed by the thing.

Hey !

Works great, thanks for asking. I'm waiting for a late model CD Changer that plays MP3s since I have literally tons of already compressed CDs that I dont have the patience to copy to the Ipod. I also ordered a charger from ebay that plugs into the flashlight plug in the glovebox so that if I start to run out of power I can stick the Ipod in the box overnight and not worry about killing the battery..Sometimes I dont drive for a week (or longer if I'm on a business trip and I've left my XMRadio plugged into the cig lighter (12V) and found a dead battery. Ironically the flashlight is switched meaning it turns off when the X5 is off, vs the 12V PSs which are unswitched allowing you to kill the battery if you leave something plugged in drawing power for days without the engine running.

Since I have a Nav, and installing the AUX requires pulling it out (and possibly scratching the screen), I had Open Road (my dealer) do it. It cost me all of $7, since I had a) negotiated the price installed to $100, and b) I won a $100 gift certificate for any parts or services at the 2010 7 series launch party they held in March. I plan to do my wife's 325 since she only has a radio/CD player and they come out real easy. Then we'll be a FAMILY of AUX ports ! BTW, to get audio out of the aux port, you just select it by pressing the mode button and AUX now shows up as an option.

Sorry for the long answer, but in sum, it's absolutely great !

ED
