Need Help - Newbie

Hey guy's I am about to buy an X5. I have decided to go with a 2004-2006 4.4. Does anyone recommend a specific year model that may have less issues than the others? Does the 4.4 really have that much noticable power over the 3.0? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This Board was down for awhile today...
From memory, most here would pitch the later MYs,
though lower mileage/condition should be fully considered.

One with some CPO warranty left would be helpful, imo.

As for the V8 vs 3.0, there are pages of threads on that
debate; if you tow, haul loads, or simply like the V8 power,
than that's the one. If none of those items are that
important, I have never felt our 8 yr old 3.0 was underpowered.

Dlrs should have both on their lots; go drive each one. Also,
many here prefer the "Sport pkg" for additional handling prowess.

Do some reading from the Front Page...and, here on the threads:
an encyclopediac-like compendium of info.

Thanks for the info! I'll start searching threads. I've found quite a few 06's that still have about a year or more warranty left. Were there any upgrades interior/exterior on the 2006 model?

04-06 features for the most part seem consistent - it really depends on the vehicle trims / packages, not years.

main benefit for 06 - longer potential warranty with CPO. otherwise, I think major bugs/fixes are consistent between the 04-06 models.

good luck! remember to check BMWUSA's CPO website! I was able to tag a great deal during mis-communication between the site and the dealership.

Thanks for the info anerbe. I thought I had sold the VW Passat but they backed out on me! as soon as it sells I'll be getting an 06' X5 4.4. Did you find yours off of the Internet?

NP!

found mine off the BMWUSA CPO website. also checked manheim auctions, ebay, craigslist, etc....

just because it's BMW's own website, not all cars there are unrealsitic regarding market value

mine's a 06 4.4 - good luck with the search! great vehicle!
