There is no need to replace them at 52K unless you have faulty plugs. Are you noticing hesitation or something?

And when you do, buy the plugs from BMW.

And don't use Bosch. NGK or Denso (iridium, etc.) please.

I believe BMW specs Bosch and NGK for the X5.

X5 (E53) M62TU, M54 All - NGK BKR6EQUP

X5 (E53) N62 - NGK BKR6EQUP or Bosch FGR7DQP

Unless Bosch has improved quite a bit, they are an iffy proposition for a BMW in my experience. Problems seem to follow their installation into a BMW. Hesitation, starting issues, etc.

I prefer the Denso iridiums, myself, but I'm a gearhead. I go so far as to index the plugs in every car, not just the race car. It only takes a few more minutes to find the right plug/cylinder combo so I do.

Give him a break, just check out his avatar, he's like 175 years old. Not bad if you ask me. I'll probably be drooling all over myself when I hit 90.
