Reese hitch

Hello everyone. Anyone ever install/used the Reese Custom-Fit Receiver Hitch — For BMW X5, Model# 44178?

Probably the worst hitch design available in the aftermarket for the X5.

What are you planning on towing with it?

The OE BMW hitch has struts that connect the hitch to the longitudinal box sections in the unibody. It is the strongest and most integrated hitch.

Several aftermarket hitches bolt on where the shock absorbers attach for the rear bumper, but don't have the same struts that the OE hitch uses.

Last choice would be a hitch that just attaches to the sheet metal behind the bumper. The Reese 44178 looks like that in the photos. Reese added a single bar going forward to counteract the twisting moment, due to damaged vehicles. Pretty ugly.
