Instrument warning display problem

Hi all,
my display warning panel (normally the one that loses pixels) is now half bright and half dull.
Does anybody have a fix for this. All the pixels are there and it works fine except for the weird brightness????

Thanks
Rod

The bulb behind the dislay burns out. It is about $6 ea. You need to take the cluster apart to replace. It sounds more difficult than it is.

Why do you need to mess with the airbag? BMW TIS didn't say anything about it either

That's just in case he had to unplug the cluster completely in order to get a clear picture of what he's doing

Don't you think that BMW TIS should have this warning in their procedure if that is true?
I unpluged it at least 5 times already and never have to do anything with the air bag. BMW TIS shows that you need to move the steering wheel all-the-way out and down. There are 3 connectors in the back of the cluster and they have nothing to do with airbag connection.
You CAN'T mess with the airbag, while removing the cluster, even if you WANT to. Unless there is a fault in the SRS system, the airbag light only lid up on the cluster when you unplug the airbag connector itself (and you would have to un-bolt the airbag from the steering wheel in order to do that)
