Climate control setting
1) I've been told that i should have a/c switched on all the time? so if the car needs cooling it can do that. Although living in the uk means thats really rare! 2) should the air recirculation be set on? there is two versions of this what is the difference and which one should it be set to? 3) The temperature control eg the red/blue dots...where should this be set to? These seem to have the most control over the temperature of the car. Get this wroung and your either sweating or getting a cold nose! I never manage to get it just right! Please can someone give me some advise how to set the Climate control for optimal performance!!

2] Set air cir to AUTO press the left hand side of the recirculate button. This means if you get behind a smelly bus then the particle sensor will auto switch on the re circulation until the offending smell has gone. 3] People recommend to set it to either ONE red dot or ONE cold dot. I have mine set to one red dot and point the vents upwards. Hope this helps. |

mine the AC turns ON automatically when i start my X5. is this normal? i like it, dont get me wrong. I just would like to know its this is normal or not. yeah me too. i have those red/blue dots that pretty much its the best and faster way to control temp. I usually leave mine at 72F but still at time bit cold to be 72F. not until i move the red/blue vent. FYI my X comes with the HOT weather package. i dont know if this makes a difference. Thanks.

Red Dot Blue Dot
Does this setting affect the temp of the air coming out of the defroster?
I really don't like this set-up climate control is supose to be automatic. |

Haven't had to use the defroster yet, so I can't tell you.

I don't believe that the red dot/blue dot wheel affects the defroster.
It is designed to allow you to adjust the air flow on to your face either slightly warmer or slighter cooler. If you don't want to do so, set it to neutral and it will have no effect. Just because it is there doesn't mean you have to use it. The red dots/blue dots should not be thought of as a way to control temperature, but more as a way to control temperature differential for the vents. If you do use them to warm up/cool down the cabin, you are defeating the auto temp control, since the two controls will end up 'fighting' each other.

defroster? I have! rear is independent - front overrides AC - you have to switch it back to auto when everything clear, then set your temp to what feels comfortable - I do suggest you make sure the snowflake button is off

While the maximum defrost button boosts the fan speed and blasts air, you can switch to defrost simply by selecting the up arrow for air flow.
And if you need defrost, there is likely moisture inside the car that you want to remove. Leave the air conditioner on, so that it can dehumidify.
