162K miles - first window regulator failure!!!

Despite all of the other issues I have had with my X over the past few years, I just had my first window regulator failure this weekend. Pretty day on Friday driving home from work so I had all the windows and sunroof open. Got home, hit all of the buttons to raise the windows and from the rear passenger window I hear something that sounded like the window cracking into a million pieces and watched it slowly drop back into the door.

Just opened it up and it appears I have a cable failure - cable is all unwound and looks like a bird nest. I am assuming the cracking noise I heard was just the cable coming unwound and scraping against the glass.

Now I just need to figure out how to secure the window in the Up position until I can get a new regulator...

I used to use a plasitc shim from Home Depot. The type a carpenter would use to shim a door. Two actually one on each side of the window. Worked great.
