Anerbe, how many miles do you have on the Generals? How does it handle? Thanks

I had them on the Jeep, which I turned in for lease. I took off the tires right before returning, and gave them to a friend who could use them. I had about 24k miles on them, and the tread dropped about 2.5 mills from new. I expected about 60K from them with my spirited driving. I had a bit more shoulder wear, but it's due to the combination of fast freeway ramp driving and lack of negative camber on the Jeep.

Handling was surprisingly good! Compared with the OE Wrangler SR-A, dry traction was very good, but wet braking and hydroplaning were insanely better! I'm sure Jeep went with el-cheapo tire when getting the SR-A's, but the difference was crazy. I did notice a bit more bump steer, but I contribute it more for the agressive tread pattern on the HTS.

Good luck with whatever tire you decide. Any which way you look at it, for your application, I recommend a good performing SUV tire. HTS, Alenza, Latitude, CCLX are all great tires.

Nice! I just wanted the board to know which specific tire line people have good experiences with. I know that there are a bunch of different Duelers in the market,

The most objective data available includes test publications and overal public input, which you can follow by a complete tire line, not a size.

If the OP wants an all season good in snow, I see no issue with recommending a tire line, as long as it's available in his size.
All tyres are chosen and fitted in a specific size.

Have you used these tyres on snow and ice ? I thave these on my car and wondered if they would be suitable for the mountains.

Actually I have just realised I have Bridgestone H/L 400 which are apparently not as good as H/L Alenza in snow.

This link gives you a quite a comprehensive list of all-season tyres and how they compare.

I think you are missing my point. Basic performance of a line carrys over all of it's sizes. Speed ratings, compounds, ply construction, etc... may vary between individual sizes, but performance should be pretty similar.

Unless you are telling me that you would recommend a 255/19 bridestone alenza but not in a 285/19 size?

Our individual experience of course come from a particular size, but it's pretty safe to say that that experience can carry over into the tire line, independent of size. If the OP wants a tire that does well in snow, whether it's a 235/17 or a 315/20, a Latitude Sport would not be a good choice.

I was thinking more of what works as a 17 may not work as well or the same as a 20.

i still agree with you , as someone who wants a 20" typically will want a sport tire, but if the guy wants an all season, whether 17 or 20, he'll want an all season SUV tire, not a sport tire. There are all season SUV tires in 20"
