Possible new owner - 2006 X5 4.4i Sport

Hi everyone,
I am in the market for a 2006 X5 4.4i. I've found a CPO at a local and very reputable BMW dealership. It has just about every option I am looking for, with the exception of GPS/Navigation and Premium Hi-Fi w/DSP. These two options are very important for me to have. I asked the dealer if they could be installed in the X5 once I purchase it and was told that this is not possible.

Now, I’ve done my research on this forum and have found that many X5 owners have retrofitted their SAVs with both the Nav and DSP. Is the dealer being straight with me or not? I value your opinions!

Thanks.

Definitely not worth it. Expand your search area as those options should be fairly easy to find. Or, wait a little longer until one shows up matching your wants. No reason to rush in this market.

Just wait for the right one to show up. It will eventually w/leases ending every month! Only took me a few months to find exactly what I wanted and wait for the price to drop (about $1k or so every couple of weeks) to my range. Snapped it up when it met my price point and I'm a happy camper!

agreed. if you are stuck with a vehicle and want to upgrade, that's one thing. but spending the money to upgrade a vehicle right after purchase vs. buying one with the options already will not be worth it.

good luck with the search!

I am in a similar situation, although I don't care whether it is CPO or not. But my question is: how do I find out what options the car has on it? I've been looking into auto auctions, and I have VIN#s for them. I can tell by looking if it has nav, or cold weather pkg, or the premium or sport, but how can I tell if it has the hi-fi DSP radio as an option? Is there somewhere on the internet that will tell me what options are on a vin#?
