Co-ask. I'm thinking about the same thing. The map on the navi DVD(Mine is 2005.2) is outdated and it can't even show the road lead to my home(it's a new development). I've searched bittorrent and downloaded an ISO file supposed to be 2009.1 north america DVD but when I burned it its piece of junk.

yes you can buy a new one from the dealer. I got quoted close to $300 for one.

Go to Navteq.com and follow the links to purchase an upgrade...I think they run $199 or so for 2004-06 X5s..

yes, also buy the latest Nav upgrade CD (for the OS). Run that first (its $10), then add the 2009 maps ($199 on navteq.com)
