Locked out and screwed?!?!

Yes I know, I know...

So I have an '02 X5 4.4 with the dreaded broken door handle. I am also fortunate enough to have leaking valve cover gaskets. So I start working on the gaskets first, it gets dark outside and I pack up for the night. With the battery unplugged for the gasket work, I manually lock all of the doors and head inside.

I realize this morning that there is only one keyhole on the X5 which is the same door that has the broken door handle. No battery, no working door handle. What do I do?!?!?!

Thanks in advance!

Hook up 12vdc to the starter. Take a spare battery or battery charger - connect positive to the front + terminal on the starter, then connect negative to bare metal on the frame. Use highly conductive cables. Now that you have electrified the system use your remote to unlock the car. This works for completely dead batteries so should work even though your battery is physically disconnected. The starter is on the rear of the motor on the passenger side and accessible from the bottom.

Is this the starter underneath the bar? AAA told me they wouldn't put on a cable b/c it might fry my starter. So should I just go to Sears and buy a battery pack?? thank you

I am attaching pics to see if this is the right thing I am putting it on. I bought this battery charger from sears and it has either 10amp or 2amps to charge the battery with. I do not know if this is the right thing or if I should go exchange it. Hopefully someone can send me some pics to see if I am doing it right. Thanks again

I believe this connection to the front + terminal on the starter, uses the +wire on the starter to power the vehicle not necessarly the starter.
Now if you follow that by connecting the negative side of the battery to the starter
after connecting the + side then you would have a real reason for concern.
