Fan Keeps Running

When I get out of my X5 I am still hearing the fan on under the hood it seem.. I believe it is draining my battery. Has anyone had this problem? I am not sure what's going on.

Thanks.

Is it running the battery all the way down, or just running for a while then shutting off? Early E53's had a problem with fans running that was the cause of fires in the vehicles as fan would run till it overheated and started a fire, but that was in 2000/2001 when the SAV first came out. I think all were recalled and fixed (I know my E53 was) so i doubt it's the same thing, but you may want to check and see if it was included and corrected, or if you have a faulty thermostat causing the fan to run you may need to have it replaced so it operates properly.

You may need to check your FSR ( Final Stage Resistor)

. Most likely to be the culprit.

Had this happen to me yesterday. This was the first time I let the X a little loose since I got it last week. After parking the car and removing the fan kept running. Thinking it would turn off automatically I waited for about 2 minutes and it didn't so I turned it back on and took it for a short drive just to check engine temp. Everything seemed to be fine and when I turned it off the fan shut off too. Is this something I should worry about? The car is a CPO and it also has factory warranty remaining on it.

EDIT: Forgot to mention it's a 2006 3.0i

Thanks
