I've noticed a few other 3.0i X5 owners have encountered the same discovery. Does anyone know why this is or what the fix is? Last edited by CharlieHustleX5; 05-28-2009 at 05:57 PM. Reason: Incorrectly mentioned the wrong sensor. My Apologies |

e53 3.0l correct? low cluster installed. e39 based. no coolant LEVEL sensor. only v8 engines came with thoes. Or cars with navi or high on board computers

He's talking about the ECT sensor, not level.
And there must be a level sensor too since we got the message a few times on the last X5 when the radiator was leaking. |

No I'm 100% sure that he's talking about the level sensor. Since the coolant temp sensor is located on the back of the cylinder head.

The sensor is the one found on the bottom of the expansion tank on the 3.0i e53.
killcrap - if what your saying is true (which sounds pretty believable), isn't there a retrofit upgrade that requires adding a couple harnesses and pins to the connector at the back of the cluster assembly? |

If you just want to add coolant level sensor. Install the level sensor and wire to cluster. Recode cluster with ncs expert to include the level sensor.
