I bought new tires a few months ago from Mavis Tire. Make sure you purchase the road hazard. If you were to ever get a flat tire, go to any Mavis Tire shop and they will replace the tire for free.

I live in Queens but had my tires installed at a Mavis shop in Nassau county on Northern Blvd in Great Neck. While I was there had some nice eye candy with an E60 M5, 650i conv, Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi S5 coupe and an S8, Benz SL500... Went early in the morning. Made waiting for my car much more enjoyable.

The good thing about the Tirerack is it has huge buying power across many brands vs. a small tire shop that probably only sells a limited set at good prices. The small guys can't compete on price.

Tirerack has an entire online capability with research, lots of details on tires with objective metric based comparisons and good feedback from buyers on their experiences with specific tires.

The 2nd thing about Tirerack is you can have the tires sent to the dealer you like, even if they only have 1 or 2 locations. Otherwise Tirerack will give you ratings of installers in your area, again with feedback from real customers.

So buying from Tirerack is tops in my book and you can still give the installation to your favorite shop with the most advanced equipment or to your brother in law.

One of the better ways to buy tires in my opinion. They get an A for price and I use local service that is recommended by them.

just to mention it those tire sizes are very hard to come by. and they are also prety expensive. i was quoted $1750.00 for 2 275-40-20 and 2 315-35-20.

i just bought TOYO PROXES ST II's the newest ones to come out. a set should go for around $1,300.00 for the staggered set up.

Corsi Tire. Either location. Plus they also have the proper Hunter equipment. IMO Tirerack sucks.

funny how you say tire rack sucks when you use their vehicle vibration diagnosis chart on post #15...

what part of them suck? the prices? the help? the knowledge? that they don't carry Toyo or some wheel manufacturers? not trying to bust your chops, but you probably have a reason to say they suck. just curious.

of all the tire places I know, tirerack has the best knowledge of proper fitments, plus sizing, etc.. compared to any independent shop. they also do their own testing with a full test track facility. if you find someone with a wholesale account, you can get tires, wheels, components, etc... cheaper.

as for installers, although tirerack gives a list of shop recommendations, like an independent shop listed on BMWCCA's website, I would do my own research and check out the shop. Just because they are listed doesn't mean they won't hack up your rims.
