BMW Coolant or Other Type of Coolant?

Does it actually matter what type of coolant I should use in my X?

I have used BMW coolant since day one but @ $20 a shot its starting to get expensive.....

What type of coolant do you guys use?

How often do you change your coolant? $20 per gallon of coolant for a change of every 4-5 years isn't what I called expensive.

Another question might be why would someone
keep needing coolant? If one is using coolant regularly
perhaps theres a leak.

Try Search Tab: there are literally pages of threads on coolant brand favorites,
with a dozenish opins on each brand.

if your going to let the coolant leak, you might as well just put the cheap stuff in.

Yes it does. I only use BMW coolant. You should have a gallon in your garage to use as needed.

Mercedes did some research on this and the conclusion was that the green didn't provide a stable ph and could promote corrosion. They therefore recommend certain brands that keep the ph near neutral. Its orange in color.

It is a good idea to continue using the OEM coolant, we do have it available but it may be best to combine it with a few other maintenance items to save on shipping.

BMW E53 X5 N62 4.8L > Maintenance > Engine > Coolant - ECS Tuning Inc
