started NAV retrofit....front air vent removal?

TIS shows use of a special tool to "unlock" the front air vent for removal. any help as to how to do it without the tool?

TIA

There are two clips built into the bottom of the vent opening pressing down towards the top of the NAV unit. These are located 4 slots from the left and right, respectively. Insert a very small, flat bladed screwdriver into the center bottom slot of the vent. You will see the clip or retainer in the lower surface the vent. Insert the screwdriver into the edge of the clip and lift slightly. Now gently pull w/ wiggle the vent outward. Repeat on the other clip until the vent is free.

I documented this in this article - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles.php?...ticle&artid=94

Everything "but" in there

Center vent is there , guess the side vents are similar?

Need a special tool, or a bread knife ...must buy bigger shovel.

EDIT, they just pull out, bottom first.

Thanks StB

TIS

What is the OP referring to? I am having serious problems using a flathead screwdriver to lift the clips in the vent to remove. Can someone post a youtube video or pics.... maybe I'm not really trying on the right thing?

Thanks,

Lou
