pop sound from streeing

hello everyone when the car is running and i steer from left to right there is like a clicking or a popping sound coming from the engine bay. when the car is off and i shake the wheel it makes a clicking like something is lose any help please

there was a defect on , i think 2001 built x5 whereby the steering linkage gets loose . also , some models had the brake pedal fall off ( American build quality , apparently ) .
not trying to scare you but have it checked out to see if your x was recalled or if it is one of the affected builds .
you might find info if you click on how to`s at top of page then click E53 tips and search from there . I`m sure the defective production dates and chassis numbers are there.
also, have you had recall for front airbag control module yet?

your link seems to show recalls except airbag , you should call your bmw dealer to find out if your`s is affected .
you should have recieved notice by letter via dvla .

yea ive got the letter about the airbag just a software update booked in next week as for the steering its the rack so i dont no if ill sell the car now thanks for your help tho
