Upper Radiator hose leak

Hey Everyone,
Just replaced my upper radiotor hose not too long ago. Had a dime sized hole in it. Used BMW spec radiator fuild with distilled water and all and flushed.

Now a new problem. It appears that there is a leak just under where the hose connects, leaking down the radiator. Has anyone experienced this? Could is be a faulty rad hose? I pulled it off and tried to re-seat is on the radiator and still have the same problem.

HELP! and thanks.

Marcel

It is more likely that there is something amiss with the expansion tank. IF you do not see any cracks, and the hose looks good, then it is possible that you need to really try to seat it again. Make sure there is clean coolant on the seal in the hose and wiggle it on. Those hoses have built in seals on the inside diameter. Pull it off and make sure nothing looks wrong. I would guess it is either not seated (they like being REALLY tight) or the expansion tank has some small crack in it. Good luck. All those plastic parts are a real pain to diagnose.

Re-seat the hose. If it does not seal, then maybe your expansion tank needs to be replaced. I dont know how the hose was replaced and if anything was ruined in the process so its hard to diagnose. But there can only be 2 real issues - The hose or expansion tank.

In my case the radiator had a small crack in the reservoir just below where you attach the hose. Didn't find it until I cleaned off all of the residue with coke and ran the car until the pressure built up. I found one on eBay pretty cheap (<100) and also went ahead and replaced all hoses, pulleys/belts, timing/valve/VANOS gaskets while I had it all apart.
