06 X5 Retractable Side Mirror Issues

My mirrors will come in with press of button, but then pop right back out. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing. Sometimes its just a connector inside that pops out. Sometimes more.

Do a search and you'll find the solution.

Don't know by package but the simplest way to tell is on the driver's side control for the mirror (next to the sliding switch for R/L) there should be a small square button next to it. That is the button to fold/unfold the mirrors.

Switch#1 has the little button, compared to Switch #2 which doesn't:

BTW .. don't feel bad. Took me awhile to figure out that I had it too.

both mirror assemblies are bad, the only way to fix this is to replace both of them. they are not cheap.

Sometimes, on mine, the passenger's side folds in without the driver's side.
