Was Too Much Oil Added in my 3.0?
I had a Oil change a 4 days ago. "The Stop Engine Low Pressure" warning came on. I have a 3.0 and i noticed from some treads that it takes 8 quarts of oil. On my receipt i noticed the service tech put 9 quarts of oil. Could that be the problem that too much oil was added causing the warning is going off?
Thanks for your responses. |

Pull the dipstick and look at the colour of the oil. If it is overfilled enough that the oil level contacts the crankshaft, it will appear foamy (like it went through a blender). If that happens, then yes, you can get a low oil pressure message since the oil is full of air bubbles. If so, don't drive it.
If the oil is not foamy, then check the level with the dipstick. If it is near to the full mark, then you may have a faulty oil pressure sender.
