While we're all here, can anybody else say that they have experienced the same as me, please?

Of late, more often than not it takes me 2, sometimes 3 goes at shutting the upper tailgate correctly. In that I mean the first (or second) attempt ends up with the latch not engaging correctly. I find if I give the t/gate a firm half slam it closes & latches ok. Each and every time, I also find myself peering through the boot area from the rear side window and checking if the upper tailgate lights are on or off, as sometimes it feels that it is closed ok but when I check it isn't.

Shit, the more I think about this the more it pisses me off. For a piece of the body that gets so much use it should have had more time spent on it back in the R & D lab and not be the big pain in the arse that it is for most of us. I reiterate, not good enough, at all.

Foomph, sounds to me like the outer stops are adjusted out too far, making the top hatch catch too tight. Try going back in one turn each.

Thanks Weasel
I'll give them both a full turn in, hopefully that'll help.

Ok, so I tried to wind the stops in 1 turn but could only get about 1/4 turn out of each side. Funny thing though, that seems to have made a difference to the tailgate latching correctly. Going to put 2 more circular felt tips back on each stop and monitor rattles again. Thanks Weasel

Had the same problem. After I adjusted the rubber stoppers on each side rattles disappered...( couple rounds clockwise in my case) If you turn rubber stopper too much counterwise , your trunk light will be on, try adjust those stoppers tight, but make sure when you close yohatch that inside light turns off.

I tried the felt rounds on mine, didn't help much, and didn't last long. I have better luch lubricating the rubber surfaces with a smear of vasoline. That also doesn't add thickness/height to the stops as the felts can.
