Petrol in Diesel - How to drain tank?

I just filled the 3.0d X to the brim with unleaded petrol

My question is, how can I drain the tank Fully. So far I've gotten 65 litres out of it with a hose. Dealer is almost not an option since I'm basically in the middle of nowhere.

Help would be most appreciated

While I have no experience with the E53 diesels, what I usually do with bad gas situations that require draining the tank is let the fuel pump do the work for me by attaching a legnth of hose to the fuel output of the tank and jumping the fuel pump relay from terminal 30 to terminal 87 with a small piece of decent gauge wire to activate the pump.

Thank you for a quick reply

I have read that the petrol damages the pump so it would not be advisable

Ah. Then might be time to remove both sending units to get to both sides of the tank with hand pump or something... As long as you didn't try to start it the fuel shouldn't be in the fuel lines or fuel rail, so should just be a matter of topping off with diesel once the tank is emptied.

Well I'm driving the X again!

Had to lift up both sending units under the back seat and pump all 95 liters of petrol out. Used a drill pump, very easy.

Pipes cleaned, new fuel filter and away I went.

I guess only time will tell if any serious damage has been done.

I was told by dealership that the diesel engine can run on mixture of ~25% petrol and 75% diesel without too much trouble.

Check with dealership, maybe next time u can drain out as much as u can and then fill it up and drain it out again to get the right mix. LOL

I had to chime in.

One time I was delivering a brand new boat, it was a 1990 32ft Regal Commodore about 120K at the time and a new lot boy filled the water tank with gas. We had to change out the whole water system to make it right.

Thankfully the buyers were forgiving.
