Cant decide :-/ between 3.0 sport or 4.4?

Please help! I've read and read these forums, looking for users opinions regarding the 3.0 versus the 4.4. It appears everyone on here favors the 4.4. I need to make this decision by saturday, and was hoping i could get some opinions and guidance. These are the two vehicles that I have to choose from:

CPO '06 X5 3.0 Toledo Blue/gray interior with 22k miles
Sport Package
Premium
Cold Weather (no heated wheel)
Nav
PDC
DSP Sound
$27K

CPO '06 X5 4.4 Sterling Gray/black interior with 33k miles
Premium
Cold Weather (with heated wheel)
Nav
PDC
$30K

I love the toledo/gray leather and sport package on the 3.0, but thinking i may be happier with the V8...im coming from a 335i monaco/saddle brown. The twin turbo power is nice, but definitely find myself driving maybe to aggressively because of the power.

What would you guys choose?

i definately could not own an X without the sports package..
but with the 4.4 you get the power the 3.0 lacks..
both are low miles, well equiped, and well priced, so in the end its personal preference. you can't find a 4.4 with sports package?

c. Hold out for a 4.4 w/ sports package, or expand your search range. Shouldn't be hard to come by at all.

The used car market right now is super hot. For me to find these two vehicles was super difficult. I'm in north new jersey, I've searched every dealer in the state and 4.4's period are hard to come by, 3.0's are a dime a dozen, 3.0 with sport very rare. One of the dealers I'm doing business with gave me a heads up that a '06 4.4 fully loaded with sport jet blk/blk is due in end of the month, but the current owner has used a alternate dealer for service so with my luck the truck will go some where else or the current owner will buy it out and I will loose the two opportunities I have now...

This is a tough situation :-/

There's two at Eastbay BMW (Pleasanton, Ca)

I understand you don't want to go that far, but I think the point is they're out there.

Urban myth.

Only on the artificial EPA test cycle (no rolling resistance, same acceleration profile between models, significant correction factors, etc). In the real world, 4.4 models don't beat the 3.0 on mileage, and when you use the power of the 4.4 as many are wont to do, you find an even larger discrepancy.

There are many of us 3.0 posters here that are quite satisfied with that engine...
I like Sport, but you may not have a need for it on the north NJ labyrinth of roads.

Both cars are decently equipped and CPO'd with time/miles left on the orig warranty;
The V8 is quicker everywhere, but the IL 6 is no slouch. I agree with JCL: in stop
and go, (80% of NJ driving as I remember), the mpg diff is nada.

Your dough, your potential ride, your pick...though I would keep hunting at area
dlrs, or bang a lil' on the price.
