if you like the truck and its being sold for a good price - buy it...... the private dealer, Bmw dealer and you can make 3 seperate letters and send it to carfax (saying it was an error).. and if Carfax approves it they will erase it from the report... but before you do the above that try Autocheck.com(they do the same as carfax just with a bit more detail on info) --------- i have done that in 2 cases and both were corrected.... if the carfax report got cleared up instantly then i see no reason to worry but like someone said previously you are probably better off waiting for the perfect one to come along, so you never have the thought at the back of your head that it could of been a tampered ODO X or a lemon of any sort.
I waited 2 years before i bought mine... craigslist and autotrader everyday, until one day i was just doing a drive by and found my X in the lot... it was never posted online but checked out clean! |

The force is strong in you! I waited all of about 10 minutes before deciding to buy mine.

I'm sure odometer tampering happens more than we care to think about.
But in this case, it makes absolutely no sense to roll back from 10,000 to 7,500. If anything, you would roll back from say 80,000 to like 40,000. So I would not sweat it. Go for it and enjoy your X! |

I think you're in the clear. The milage is stored in two different modules, which must agree. If you replace either, it must be reprogrammed by the dealer (or an indie with a $3500 computer) before the engine will start. The visible odometer only reports what the two modules are telling it. Must have been a clerical error - why would anyone go to that much trouble for 3K miles?
Buy it - you'll like it! |
