Power Steering Leak

Have a 2001 X5 4.4i
with about 64k

I looked under the hood today and found that the power steering was leaking. I searched and it seemed to be a common problem. I looked more closely and figured out it was either the main hose right under the reservoir or the reservoir exit not being tight enough due to the aging of the clamps. More than likely I am going to try to fix this on my own. However I cant seem to find a diy or a writeup of how to approach this problem. Also does anybody know of which type and brand of ATF should be used? Guys who have encountered this problem, could you help out thanks.
