Removing the plastic rivets on the wheel arches for Al board install

Soooooo who has a tip on that??? I just took one off, but I only got the flat circular head, but the plastic stem is still in there. I am installing the Al running boards, but these plastic rivets might give me grief.

tips or tricks for removing these lil guys would be appreciated.
