Hit a bird today and broke the grillwork just above the license plate on the left

I have a nice bird size hole in the narrow grill work on my 2006 4.4i just above the license plate and on the left side. What is this called so I can order a replacement. I am assuming these are replaceable without much of an issue. Please help. TIA,

BL

actually in order to relpace that peice your talking about you need to remove the whole bumper which takes quite some time. a few of us here, including myself have the same issue and its not worth all the trouble to replace. they arent made that great and will just end up breaking again. good luck.

Thanks X Foomph. I did identify the name and part number. I may check with the local stealer and see what they can do. I can't believe how fragile that grid is. I owned a 2001 X5 and never had an issue. But I believe those bumpers did not have the grid inlets. Oh well...

Oh, here is the pic. Car is filthy from lightning bugs on my trip yesterday. But yes, you can still see feathers on the radiator fins. And it was the State Bird

Found both broken pieces and the dead bird below the oil cooler or whatever the second small radiator is. Driving 500 miles and then having the car in heat today did not bode well for having to remove a dead bird. But I have used epoxy to mend the two pieces and will try to epoxy it in tomorrow. It will be un-noticeable and less hassle than trying to replace.
