Hi guys

I have had this same problem. Working on fixing number plate lights and put keys on parcel shelf.

Like an idiot I only had the boot unlocked and not all the central locking.

The boot shut and I was locked out, with keys on display on the shelf.

I am gonna order a plastic spare from BMW as this is the cheapest option but it will take a couple days now.

If the moderator or someone who knows could PM me with the method of safely getting into the car. I have considered wire coat hangers but I just don't want to cause damage.

Even the guy at BMW suggested there was a method to get to the boot but obviously wouldn't divulge it, which is fair enough I guess.

It would be much appreciated. I have sworn and cursed all afternoon.

Good luck, it's very frustrating when it happens. I never did get an answer and ended up using the AA to tow low load the car and family about 100 miles home where I had spare keys........ still, saved on petrol money...

Hey

I never got a reply either.

I got the AA out, i specifically asked if they had methods other than bending back the door frame or jimmying down the door as these methods would leave some damage or at least there is an increased risk of damage albeit probably cosmetic.

I would rather wait for the spare key i ordered from main dealer.

Anyway, AA assured me they had specific patrols that carried the equipment for and were trained in opening the lock.

They came out and picked the lock within 20 seconds unlocked the car.

I have also got my spare key now so i have learnt from my error.

glad you got it sorted, AA were good... 20 seconds! I assume starting the engine and nicking the car is somewhat harder at least due to immobiliser etc.
