Ah, dinan never disappoints!
We have a 550i that comes in with an M5 body kit and straight pipes with an x-pipe... sounds so wicked!

Hey Jeff,
Conrats on the new Dinan exhaust and top pics. Sounds cool but looks unreal, even though they stick out further than stock tips. BTW I really like the look of those slightly extruded tips. Listening to a revving motor in neutral just doesn't exude a realistic sound or maybe better put, the note/sound of the V8 under full load that you and others would hear as you slam on the 'Go Pedal'. I've searched with no luck on other 'realistic runs with V8 exhaust mods', they do exist. How about doing a few retakes, like a few others here have done on a quiet stretch with; 1/ The X under full load from a standing start and running an approx 1/4 mile on a dead straight road, mic stationary from behind. 2/ Same as above with a mic at the halfway point hearing you coming then going. 3/ Last one with the mic at or near the end of the strip with your X braking hard under gear load (say 3rd gear). I realise it may need a few takes but the final product will be worth it and a more realistic version of what your new Dinan sounds like. If I lived local I'd help out, hopefully someone else will. GL

Does it drone at a certain cruising speed?

One of the BMW dealerships in Portland hooked me up. Which is pretty unfortunate for you east coast guys! Probably the best 2 cars I have gotten from them are a 335i and a 535i, both of which are really fun to drive!

I haven't had the X5 at freeway cruising speeds yet, but around town at the 30-40MPH range I haven't noticed any droning. To me, if the sound is coming from the back of the X, that's exhaust; if it is sounding like it is coming from the cabin and giving me a headache that's droning.
