HELP! Suspension on 2004 4.8is UPDATE!!!!

Hello Fanatics,

I've done some search regarding suspension and was wondering if anyone out there has changed their air suspension to OEM sport suspension or even coilovers?

How much are they? What brands are good? Any help that would point me to the right direction would be really appreciated.

Thanks so much!!

HERE'S A QUICK UPDATE ON MY AIR SUSPENSION PROBLEM.

I finally decided to stick with the oem air suspension which I bought from the dealership. My friend works at a place that has a lift and was able to help me out in replacing it - thanks to all his power tools!

It took about an hour to replace one strut. Removing the wheel, strut, bolts, etc. I was so surprised how easy it was to do this. If you were to do it yourself at home, I would suggest to get someone to help you and have 2 sets of hydraulic jacks to lift the car up and to hold the rotors since it is very heavy!!

It definitely saved me some money and time. I had no errors (not yet ) coming up on my dash regarding the air suspension. So far all I need to do is have it re-calibrated and that should do the trick.

Feel free to ask any questions and I will try my best to answer it. I took some pictures from my phone and will try to post them asap.

Thanks again for all the help.

I've seen people lower them through the GT1 with the OEM air suspension. The only problem with replacing the air suspension with steel springs is that you will always have the air suspension inactive faults coming up on the cluster... no way to get rid of that.

in correct, delete SA221 from ZCS, and disconnect the EHC2 module. If you need the re-calculated ZCS coding, let me know, so i can generate it for you.

But how is the average person/non BMW tech going to get/create a custom VO and recode the vehicle?

an average bmw tech will not know either, i will calculate the ZCS code, and you will have to use Progman(via e32) at the dealer to re-code the instrument cluster at that point, you can enter the new SA string i can generate for you.

I think I would get too lazy for all that and just get my RTE to generate a custom VO for download via PuMA... He's a cool guy and he already told me he could do it if I needed him to. But I can see modifying a VO shouldn't be too difficult as long as you have the resources.

Thanks for the reply fanatics! I just got back from the dealership and just bought the oem air suspension strut. I'll take some pictures so everyone could see how it looks like under there.

funny thing is, your RTE probably doesnt know how to do it either. VO is simple compared to ZCS.
