coolant level

had low coolant level ..plunger was always at min level...brought x to dealer and dealer said water pump was bad..mind you i never saw a leak or wet under car...dealer said anti freeze would leak onto block and evaporte before leaking to ground...water pump changed coolant level when cold was at max level..plunger full up position...now when cold plunger is a min level..no signs of any leaks..car runs good..temp gauge ok..brought to an indie for opinion and he said should not be...any opinions/suggestions..2005 4.4 18k miles..thnks rob

Perhaps they did not fully bleed the air out of the system? Add some water to get things to the full mark and see if it changes again.

May have been air in the system. Did they change the valley pan gasket when they did the pump?

I had the same symptoms and my dealer replaced the water pump and valley pan gasket at the same time under warranty. Hopefully it was just air and not a leak somewhere else.
