Why do you like this feature? I don't understand redundant controls for the same function. Furthermore, maybe its the engineer in me, but if I set the digital temp for 60 degrees its absolute. There isn't a 60 degrees "hot" and a different 60 degrees for "cold". 60 degrees is 60 degrees!

As an engineer, I appreciate this feature. It isn't at all redundant to me. One control is the average temperature in the cabin, the other is an offset of 1 or 2 degrees (depending on the number of blue dots) for fresh air blowing on the face. This has worked perfectly on my last five BMWs.

Leave it in the neutral position then... between one blue and one red dot. It confused me too, but then I read that 3 blue dots = the air blowing out of the center vents is 3 degrees cooler then the air blowing out of the side vents, and vice versa for the 3 red dots. Because there is no partition between the driver and passenger, naturally the dual climate control will not be able to set absolute temps on either side, so the center vents act as a buffer.

Also, it allows for warmer or colder air to blow on your face, while not interfering with the regular climate control.

Oh... I would like pneumatic assist on the doors, like my W140 S-Class had. BMW went halfway and added pneumatic trunk assist in 2004, which in my opinion didn't need it half as much as the doors did.

BMW added soft-close automatic doors to the E70.

Nav system as good as modern aftermart units.

Mainstream type audio system.

IPod hook-up that is fully functional, including showing the album artwork and all info on the screen.

Automatic climate control that is....automatic. Or, just analogue dials. "Hotter" or "colder" is just fine.

Back-up camera standard.

No brake dust!

Room provided for big subwoofer(s).

Paddle shifter standard.

I just love real wood steering wheels. Kind of vintage to be sure, but so nice.

I have always liked the idea of a fairly dramatic ride-height system so it could be lowered at speed, or just to look cool.

Of course, all reliability issues would be solved and there would be easy access to all components for easy repairs.

24" extra-tacky wheels. Just kidding.

I would get a new X every year, free, for sharing my astute observations. The BMW corporate gas card would be appreciated, but I won't press the issue.
