Bluetooth on the X5

So we have owned our X5 for a year this week.... and since day 1 Agata has been asking me about setting up a bluetooth system, getting a bluetooth ear piece, getting a cradle to hook her phone up to the car... nag nag nag nag nag!

Well until today nothing has been done, yeah I kinda looked into a few options, had Seth check into OEM cradle options etc., but no serious progress.

Well today I went to have the car inspected (since it expired in JUNE!) and while looking for the registration for BJ's dad I looked through the owners manual for the first time. Lo and behold there was the white glossy sheet with all the Bluetooth info and passkey

I'm so retarded... I called Seth and he told me how to pair, and it immediately recognized my phone. Unfortunately the BT Passkey was wrong. Long story short, I ended up having to check the BT ULF for the correct passkey. Just my luck, it was covered by some large plastic molding and I had to jury rig a solution to get the nuts off since I have about 0 tools.

So a year and a day later we now have Bluetooth

Some pics are below, enjoy!

The car had it's own tools, who knew :P

Vise grips/needle nos pliers didn't work

This is what I was trying to get off. It was harder because they were in the bottom of small holes.

I found this socket, and it seemed to fit, but I had no ratchet

Hmmmmmmmm

GHETTO FABULOUS

Success!!!!!!!!

Congratulations on getting the BT info and getting it paired up. One question though: Don't you have hardware stores near where you live?

Question. So how do you pair? I hava a 2004 X5 3.0 and my iphone doesnt see it. I went to the trunk and the unit is therr and connected, but my phone doesnt see it. Do I need to do anything special? I triedholding the phone button on tge MID Display and on the steering wheel, but nothing happens. Am I missing anything? I appreciate any help.

Question to those who use the bluetooth on their x5's. Does anyone know how to set the volume on the ring when u get an incoming call? I'd be driving down listening to music and if i have the sound system loud and get a call it scares the shit out of all the passengers and its pretty annoying.

LOL, I've had the same issue in both our cars. If you turn the volume down on the handset, the actual incoming call volume is lower over the BT connection, even if your stereo volume is up loud (iPhone was the phone in question) and perhaps if your ringer volume is lower, the same would apply *shrugs* I'll give it a shot tonight and post back with results!

There's a button on the steering wheel that looks like a little guy talking or something.... dunno, it's the handsfree button. I held that for a few seconds and it began to search for BT devices.
