Anyone can get my vehicle repair history under BMW warranty by my VIN #?

I want to know what repairs have been done on mycar, when it was under warranty. i didn't own it,but want to know it. Can paypal you some $,if you can pull out that information from dealer or BMW NA? My local dealer refused to give that info,as i wasn't owner at that time :-(

I am not looking for carfax report or something like that,i need real stuff ;-)

My dealer refused at first as well. But I called in to talk with some one else and she let me know. She just couldn't email me all the stuff but she did tell me over the phone.

I asked about this from my dealer as well and they also refused to provide the printout of all of the work that has been done to the car. I was actually pretty surprised, since previously in many cases (toyota, honda, etc.) I or my friends have been able to just go to any dealer of the said brand and get a full history of work done on that specific car.

The dealer should just tell us since we are the current owners of the vehicle.

vin look ups contain sensitive information. most will include the owners address, and can be used for stalking purposes.

I bought an 840 two years ago and the dealership in Henderson NV gave me a complete print out on everything ever done to the vehicle. I purchased a PPI from the dealer and they were really helpful. However I just bought a one owner 03 X5 and asked the seller to get that info from his local dealer (Beverly Hills). The dealer refused to give it to him. I got back from picking up the car (more on that later) and asked my local dealer if he could give it to me. He said BMW has gotten really weird about this particular thing. He said he used to have no problem but now corporate has cracked down and he can no longer provide the info to new owners. He was not sure exactly why. I think if you get along with your service mgr. they might give you the info over the phone or in person as long as it is given verbally. Kind of stinks but maybe if we all raise cane about it and tell corporate we are all going to Japanese cars maybe they will change their ways.
