Nav update question ??

My X is an 04. I want to be able to have the 3D map and what not, the disc I have is 2008 but I still have the older looking map. Is there a way I can get my nav to look like the 06's? If so help me out, thanks.

It depends on the version of your navigation software, not the map disc. According to the chart in the link below perspective view was introduced with the V27 distribution disc.

The following link will assist you in figuring out what version of software you have:

If your software is already up to date to enable perspective view follow the following instructions:

  1. Go to the main menu and then settings. Press the menu button for about 10 seconds until a new menu appears.
  2. Check "Perspective". Voilá. Perspective mode is now available.

Isn't it the FIRMware (not software), that determines the ability for 3d view? I'm still learning this stuff.

There are basically two parts: Navigation OS and the Map Disc.

Feel free to call it what you want, but since it is the Navigation Operating System and the user does interact with it, it is more software than it is firmware.
