I wouldn't call the 745 new... just newer. The 750's are a bit more reliable. But the "new" 7 series is the F01/F02 and is a whole nother beast.

Yeah, but his 740il has internal performance work done to his non-valvetronic engine that makes it pretty damn nice in my book, and that body style will never have MOST bus problems.

I bought my 7 about 5-6 years ago, and I bought the 98 E38 on purpose for two reasons. One for the 98 was the last year before the M62 went VANOS, so it has the larger MAF, throttle body and intake runners (that we can bolt onto our M62TU's btw). Within a month of ownership, I had the motor pulled and rebuilt for forced induction...not cheap.

My other reason for choosing an E38 bodystyle is that a lot of people, including myself, aren't fans on the Bangle designs. I actually take a liking to more boxy, hard edged cars as opposed to rounded off edges...the X5 being an exception. Once I see cars become mainstream, dime a dozen cars used in rap videos, rental cars, etc. (300c, 745Li, Range Rover) then i'm out. It's just personal preference.

C's Bimmer is an unknown quantity at this point
Spacers and some tint and visiting my body shop guy, like we discussed on PM, will make your X one of a kind! Great job. Keep it going.

And yes, we need a video clip of the exhaust in action.

He posted a video on another thread.

To be honest, it doesn't sound bad for a $17 muffler IMHO. The spacing around the tips is terrible and the bend before it enters the muffler can't be good for performance either, but it works.
