scorcher is on a distinguished road
Picked up the 4.8is this morning - first mods installed

Went to collect the X5 from Barons of Hindhead this morning, and a very pleasant experience it was too.

Car has all the usual 4.8is spec goodies, along with panoramic roof, comms pack with bluetooth, sun protection glass, running boards and universal remote. Black nappa interior and the impossible to photograph, but lovely in the flesh Le Mans Blue paintwork. (As you can see from the various pics I took today, it looks different in every shot!)

Had a 40ish mile drive home, and had a good play on the A3, M25 and A25.

It's a very odd sensation being in such a large vehicle, that has such swift acceleration as well as the ability to follow bends! It weirdly handles soooo much better than my E55 AMG did. The x-drive is very clever - to be able to pull out of side road quickly and safely without spinning any of the wheels on such a heavy car is impressive.

Also had my first trip (of many!) to the petrol station - £93 to fill it up

First job when I got home was to update the nav software and map disc.

Next job was to try out the tv in motion cable and stereo av in cable, part of the bundle from Leigh at toysinyourcar.com

ToysInYourCar.com - Tv In Motion, AV (+Stereo) Package Deal - had a bit of a problem with the av cable, and fear it may be down to a dodgy TV module

I sent a text to Leigh to see if he could help, and he rang me from holiday in France with some tips - now that's customer service!

Next up was to try out the ridiculously cheap headrest monitors I bought for a whopping £119.99 a pair from eBay - TBH I didn't have high hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised

Not only do they have a very good picture, but also have a built in FM modulator so you can hear the audio through the car stereo, tiny built in speakers, TV tuner + aerial, two av inputs and 10 built in 16 bit Nintendo type knock off games, and a wireless controller for each screen!

Thanks to Mogsyman for this post....

...was very helpful for getting the backs off the seats, couldn't have done it without a guide!

I do need to hardwire the power lead in properly - they are currently running from the cigarette lighter.

A busy day today, but managed to squeeze in a couple more trips with the roof open to listen to that V8 - it's a gorgeous sound - a loud throbbing purr

Will give it a proper run tomorrow up to Gaydon for the BMW Show - see some of you UK members there
