Potential New Owner
03 4.6is, 72k miles, Titanium silver on black, asking $18,000. Car seems clean, car fax checks out, dealer put new rotors on it. Seems like a great deal. I'm a long time bimmerforums member, and moderator on M3 Forum. I'm a bmw/nasa club racer and instructor for bmw/pca. Hopefully Xoutpost will before my new home

That is a good price on a very fun SAV! Just be ready for future wear items and ouy will love it. I'd say the 4.6is will run right with the E36 M3, but the E46 is still faster as it is only 30 hp less and much less weight.
The only regret that I have with my 4.6is is that I didn't buy it earlier!

Sounds like a good buy to me. I recently bought one and paid more with about the same mileage.
Like Weasel said, be ready to replace some wear items. I have replaced valve cover gaskets, coolant hose, radiator, ignition coil within first few months of ownership. Seems we are good now.

Welcome aboard...you won't regret it. I suggest an after-party warranty for any failure prone components that may not have yet been addressed. This site was very resourceful in helping me to address all failure prone items on the "iS" models, well in advance of potential failure.
The 4.6iS is a blast to drive and reliable if well maintained. I'm selling mine slightly north of what your dealer is asking, but that's due to a number of mods so that price sounds about right to me |

Sounds pretty good to me. I paid a little more for an 03 4.6 with 62K on the clock, CPO for another 2 months, and a few after market items ie dinan stage 2, drilled slotted rotors. Don't make the same mistake I did, get a pre purchase inspection and use the results to determine if you are getting a good deal or need to negotiate a better price.

As the owner of a 4.8is I would seriously hunt down a good aftermarket warrantee. You may be suprised at how much more complicated it is over an E46.
