Wanna replace tweets

Hey all.

First thing I noticed after taking posession of our X5 was how poor the higher freq's sounded. I've noticed comments that the tweets are poor in our X5's. Anyone replaced the tweeters? If so, what did you opt for and how did you install them?

Go to BSW website they have video instructions ... it is not an easy task, you have to remove the complete door panel ... I did not like their Stage1 speaker upgrade ... I only used their tweeters and replaced the other door speakers with Pioneers, and added a Pioneer shallow sub.

Check this thread for my complete audio upgrade details:

I also need my tweeters replaced but where can I find a link to purchase JUST the tweeters? Besides how the heck do you replace the tweeters on the dashboard? The one in the doors I can remove the panel but what about the main ones within the dash boards?

The ones are the dash are midranges and they mount with 2 screws and then plug in.

To remove the screen for the dash speakers, use a pick, a thin blade screw driver, or a plastic panel popper and wedge it in carefully between the grill and the dash. Then pop upwards and you'll reveal the 2 screws holding the speaker in place.

Replacing the door tweeters are a night and day difference. I replaced my front speakers with kicker component speakers. I did this while still using the OEM amp and radio and there was a significant change to mids and highs. In my opinion changing the tweeters alone may be enough for some people since the high freq is what is missing from the stock speakers.

If you are in a budget then a $40 tweeter from a reputable company may be enough to fit your needs. Mounting is pretty easy since there is a foam mold inside the tweeter pod that will fit many different tweeter sizes.
