To get extended warranty???

If you are only putting on 20K miles over the next 2-3 years then no way get a warranty. Just save the money for a rainy day IF you have to use it for repairs.

I had an extended warrantee on three of my BMW's, one company went bankrupt as I was having the entire cooling system replaced, ended up paying for that repair out of my own pocket and never seeing reimbursement for my 530i repairs. The X5 4.6is, has 104k miles on it, I have had several things replaced over the last 20k miles and I have had to scream and fight the extended warrantee company to pay for items that I felt should be covered... each time, I hung up the phone, defeated... Yes, they have in fact covered some items, but it appears as though any repair cost that had a comma in it, wasnt covered... So for me, I paid 3500.00 for the warrantee, used it 4-5 times ($100 deductible, after meeting the initial $500) and about 3-4k in repairs that were NOT covered by the wonderful warrantee.

I will never buy an extended warrantee again... was not worth the hassle and headaches .. and clearly not work the money that was spent!

My alternator just failed and they paid $289 towards a new alternator that cost me $1100. A BMW 3.0 alternator is $700! plus installation,but they will not replace it with a BMW alternator. wow, i never had this kind of experience with WD, all positive so far...
i paid $3500 for my coverage... i had almost $5K done to my car and WD covered all of them... i only paid deductible....

I had one, too, that I had on my '01 e53 when I bought it new--which I still have at 90K miles and nothing has really gone wrong with it that would have been covered except 2 window regulators, a control arm and recent water pump. The warranty company was nothing but a headache--based out of SoCal. They once had mine at the dealer for 2 WEEKS for a small repair because they would just place phone tag with my service advisor. I always buy new and drive them 8-9 years and keep them maintained (now that the warranty is 4 years that helps a lot). If I were to go used I would go CPO or go home .

I also have had no problem with WD, though I will not have had enough repairs
to equal the upfront cost, when it expires next month...others here have obviously
made the "nut"; I doubt I will renew, though I get a weekly pitch call from them.

A non-CPO Ext Warranty is a tough call; if I had an automatic trans, I would
probably consider it. But, at this point of our car's "life", I will probably pass on
the re-up.

To the OP, I have no knowledge of Fidelity, et al, that your dlr was
pitching. If you consider it, make sure most dlrs will take it. And, at that low
mileage per year, I would probably pass and just be prepared for possible
hit in the next couple of years...the real bogey man is the auto trans going
kaboom.

I wouldn't do it unless it's a manufacture cerfified warranty ,I had experience with a third party national wide extended warraty on two of my cars ,although I was able to get some repair covered and pretty much paid back the cost of the policty ,there were way too much hassle and time consuming during the process ,they usually try their best to decline your request the first time ,if it's something clearly written in the coverage ,they'll delay the process and make you wait ,my car usually sit in the dealership for more than 3 weeks before they authorize the repair,these people are very tricky to deal with .

i would neevr consider it, just the hassle alone, whether or not you get reimmbursed, is already enough for me never to go back to entended warranty. As with anything. Buy a new TV with ext warranty, tv craps out in a year, you'll be missing a whole season of CSi before you get to catch up on it. As someone mentioned earlier, you are basically putting your money down up front instead of saving up for it. Kinda of like using your credit card to buy something instead of cash. Be smart and save that money for the rainy day, this way you have total control over it!

i can get you an extended warranty.

this warranty will have no deductible, no mileage limits, and repairs will be paid directly by the issuer, no reason to fight over what is covered and what is not as everything that is OEM is covered...
