X5 Speaker system!???

I own an X5 2001 4.4i, its reached 117k the other day and its seems to be running well lately thank gd, but anyways, recently ive noticed the speakers sound isnt as good as it once was, its bugging me to buy new speakers and replace them, the only thing im confused about is, speakers i can change but what do i do with those two... like boxed up speakers in the front of the car like the speakers that are build into the dashboard and what about those speakers that are built in the door that are next to the mirrors on the front doors...

Must i replace those if i need to replace my speakers as well? or no?

If i do which speakers should I purchase? An ebay link or some sort of link would be very appreciated, im very lost here and i do not want to go to the stealers to have them replace it with the same speakers and come back in a few months to have them replaced again..... plus there going to rip me off like crazy..

Thanks!

I'd look at these guys, they have been some of the best and most helpfull site sponsors and have the best products. They also have full writeups including youtube videos showing the complete process. Probably your best bet for the best products and service and instructions out there.

Non DSP Stage 1 kit has been on backorder for months now and there doesn't seem to be any change on the status. Has anyone ordered a kit from them lately?

We actually have been shipping them. We just get so many orders that we haven't been able to get enough to cover the demand to actually list them in stock

We are working on it!

I will say this for BSW. I was installing the subwoofer, and felt the instructions were confusing. I called Halston, and he emailed me a revised set of instructions right then, and walked me through the electrical connections before he would let me hang up the phone. Excellent service!!!

Due to the unique way the factory amp works, and the size and shape of the factory speakers, you have two choices:

1. Go BSW.

2. Tear everything out and start new with a custom system.

You could just replace the tweeters and midranges. That gets you the most improvement and from what I have read those are the speakers that go out first and one or more of them may well be shot. It is less likely that the mid-bass units are damaged. That is around $400 doing it yourself.

Even though the BSW speakers don't look special and the factory speakers seem well built, the sound difference is pretty big.

And, then you will want the sub and need to read Essam's thread for that info.
