Water

ok so i had a thread on this earlier, after our rainstorms here in NYC i checked the left side of my trunk and it was all soaked, i pretty much narrowed it down to the fact that its not leaking from any door/window seams since the water is coming from below and splashing my cd changer and nav computer (not good) , i have a appointment with the dealer but just wanted to know if any of you guys here have ever experienced something like this before? this is getting seriously irritating, in the past 3months that i own the car it must have been at the dealer for a total of roughly 10 days and counting for mishaps and stereo issues etc...... i am about to seriously get medieval on these guys if i have to take it back one more time after this. any advice?

sunroof drains? how would water get from there over to where my nav and cd changer are located? the water is from behind the panel and seems like its coming from below cuz my trunk bed is a bit wet as well.

i guess it would all depend on which way the drain tubes are routed.
in a car i owned years and years ago, one of the drain tubes was being pinched between the door hinge and the door. when it would rain, my rear passenger floor would get soaked. after discovering the pinch and re-routing the drain tube, i no longer had an issue.

ahh wow c i dont even know that theres such a thing as a drain tube but hopefully the $tealer will be able to diagnose and fix the issue otherwise its lemon law all the way i mean on a cert car with only 40k having it at the shop for no less than 10 days is not cool

i'm not exactly sure how the X5 is setup.
for all i know, it may or may not have the same drain setup.
i'll check mine later today and see if i can give u a definite answer.
best of luck though.

This is a total longshot but something I thought you should be aware of. Since the water is in the side compartment and appears to be from the bottom, it might be coming in from a just inside the bumper. On either side of the X5, right beside where the two side compartments are in the back cargo area, there is a large vent covered with what looks like louvers. This is covered on the outside by the side part of the rear bumper cover. You can see the other side of this when you open up the passenger side compartment and look inside. It looks like a large black grate. (See my PDC retrofit guide on the X5world home page and go to page 14 for a picture of what I'm describing.)

I really don't know if this is the source of your water but something to consider. Broknlgs' suspicion about drain tubes is a good one.
