I wonder if anyone at BMW is playing the conflict of interest card.

Too bad the LR3 is so damn ugly. What is up with the vent being only on one fender?
Damn..should have taken a pic of the 8 255/55/18" tires and rims in my X5 the other day.....plenty of room in my eyes.

To be fair, even though their comparison is not, their concierge service is cheaper than BMW.

BMW only gives you 1 yr for free and the calls are metered.

Its neat though how they used the low resale value of their car to their advantage http://www.landroverusa.com/us/en/Ve...ess_Owners.htm

Today class let's compare apples and oranges. To start with we have a vehicle designed by a company specializing in some of the worlds best off road vehicles (well at least when they're running anyway) and let's compare it to a SUV from a company specializing in some of the worlds best on road vehicles. Let's take these two vehicles and compare their offroad characteristics while leaving out minor details such as acceleration, braking, and cornering. These things don't matter of course because the majority of people who purchase SUVs have to traverse the Rubicon trail to and from the office and can't be concerned with such trivial details. It really erks me that so many people focus on the these vehicles' abilities offroad when the truth is only 5% of the people actually take them offroad (that is of course unless they try and keep up with an X5 on a high speed turn)...

I know many people (probably not many on this forum) would probably think me a hypocrite and note that if onroad performance was what I was looking for I should invest in a car not a SUV. Well I would agree except I do occasionally need to venture offroad and it's great to be able to go where I need to without sacrificing performance where I spend 95% of my time.

No to me, the X5 is the ultimate SUV because it retains the important characteristics of a SUV such as the ability to tow, a commanding view of the road, and increased ground clearance while still driving as a BMW should.
Oh and if need be you can still jump the curb and forge the river that is the mud puddle on the road shoulder while going around the broke down LR3...

Don't even get me started on Hummers.

I believe the engine and transmission agreement was for the new shape Range Rover that has the same power plant as the 4.4 X4 and that expires next year so it will probably be a can't af"ford" it engine

For me, if the best off road consumer vehicle maker wants to compare their models to the X5...I'm fine with that. You didn't see a LR3 vs Honda Pilot write up did you?
