Newbie question: FSR Replacement
Hi,
I am not very mechanically inclined but willing to learn. The blower on my 2001 X5 3.0i stopped working. This site is being so awesome, I found instructions on how to replace the FSR. But I am stuck on what would be a simple step...removing the glove box. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could elaborate a bit more on "you can remove the vertical screws that are on each side of the glove box opening (one on each side).Carefully remove the glove box from the opening." http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...placement.html Thanks |

....press in on the stopper on the right side of the glove box to allow it to drop to a lower position so that you can remove the vertical screws that are on each side of the glove box opening (one on each side).

Thanks...

I got the 2 screws next to the latch hole out. Is there a particular way to pull the glove box out. It still feels pretty secure. Nervous about breaking it. |

Not required, but it makes it a lot easier to access the area where the FSR is located. And removing the glovebox is really a very simple task.

Thank you
I just want to say that you guys and this site is absolutely AWESOME!
It took me a little longer than expected, mostly fiddling around with the glove box, but I replaced the FSR. The blower fan is back on blowing cool air again. The instructions were just perfect. Thanks to this website, I have replaced the brakes on my X5 and now the FSR. Next project, replacing the headlights with Angel Eyes! |
